Ships that pass....

After a week of sightseeing in Seville we let the ebb carry us back downriver, with again an overnight stop at our favourite spot next to the stork nests.

And again we were amazed at how we had the river to ourselves most of the time, except for the occasional cargo ship....

....and something totally different to remind us of how Seville once was one of the departure ports for Columbus.

When anchored opposite Bonanza one day we saw one of those funny fishing boats come floating down on the ebb, obviously broken down from its mooring. Through the binoculars we followed its progress, neatly down the deepwater channel from who knows how far away, until it got stuck between some moored boats just south of the Bonanza pier where there seemed to be a kind of eddy. Some time later, when the flood was running again, we saw it coming back! Had someone cut it loose and send it adrift again? But no, alongside the fishing boat was a small motorboat returning it to where it belonged.
